Becoming More Alive

Don’t smear the mirror

Because you don’t like what you see.

A vision refracted

Is still a partial depiction

Of what is subjected

To others in reality.

In all of the swallowing of pride,

Putting self aside,

And eating deathly words from leaving inside-

All of that has gained

Weight like the tide

Or a tidal wave to collide

With the truth that I’ve neglected long,

For weary it was to my soldiering along.

To think that I had one more problem to address

Felt like an overwhelming mess,

So, I looked down

And away

From reflection

Or display,

Focusing on the tasks for the day

And wasting away.

Eating worries and woes

Are definite blows

To the health.

But now that I’m dining in delight

I think I just might

Have a more lively appetite

And with my best self, reunite!

Cheers to 2025!
