Salty Statues

You want to look back…
Romanticize the lies
With lofty notions of satisfaction
Though,
You were completely lacking.
In truth, you prayed to be saved
From the void of the cave
That was once your shelter.
You cried out loud with sounds
From the ruptured shroud
Of sadness.
Yet, you still are in disbelief
When you’re given a way out?
Still,
Perplexed at the movement of the cloud?
Manna falls where it is found
And shady trees fall without a sound.
God is the author of the life you live;
He has good things to give
To His children, His beloved.
Child,
You were being consumed.
The inferno was whirling around you.
You wouldn’t move and
You needed to be rescued-
What else was the Lord to do?
Sometimes your determination
Is the object of affliction.
God knows your heart,
So when He says to leave
Or forces an egress,
Even into a potential wall
Or off a cliff,
Trust that there is a plan and purpose in it.
A tragedy it would be
To receive a grand blessing
But perceive regressing.
God’s work is not for you to fathom;
Don’t delay in doting upon the past.
Leave without looking back.
Don’t become a salty statue;
Receive the blessing He has.
And wipe your tears
Lest the salt dries your soul.
